Its a shame the rain came today as we celebrate our Queens 60 years on the throne. It is an amazing sight to see so many people lining the River Thames to see so many boats, some little rowing boats and many much larger, all there to join in the celebrations. I believe that there are boats who sailed to the aid of our soldiers at Dunkirk too.
One thing that struck me as soon as i saw it was that someone has been very clever with the Queens outfit. If you look at “Queen Elizabeth I” (The Ditchley Portrait) by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger (1592) and at the Queens coat, there are certainly similarities. Very clever.

The Royal barge, The Spirit of Chartwell, has been transformed for this occasion and looks wonderful, i loved the ‘Gloriana’ she has been made specifically for this event at a cost of £1m and is a gift to the Queen. There are 18 rowers which include Olympic rower’s  Sir Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinset among others.
It would have been a fantastic experience to go to London and see the procession but sadly i have to watch it on TV along with many many people.

What an achievement to have stayed in one job for so long! I hope, as a Royalist, that Her Majesty rules for many years to come. Congratulations Ma’am and thank you for the fantastic pageantry today.
